Product Description

Sliding gate wheels (also called rollers) are the load-bearing components that carry the full weight of a sliding gate, allowing it to move smoothly and freely along its track. The entire performance of a sliding gate — how quietly it runs, how much strain it places on the gate motor, and how long the whole system lasts — depends heavily on the condition and correct specification of its wheels. Centurion stocks both U-profile and V-profile gate wheel kits to suit different track types, along with the innovative GateShoX system for reducing noise and vibration on worn or uneven tracks.

Choosing the Right Wheel: U-Profile vs V-Profile

Wheels must be matched to the profile of the gate's track/rail, so it's important to confirm track type before ordering:

Wheel Profile Best Suited To
V-Profile Angle tracks — the wheel's V-shaped groove sits into an angled rail
U-Profile Round rails/tracks — the wheel's U-shaped groove cradles a round bar

Fitting the wrong profile to a track will cause poor rolling, excess wear, and noise, so always match the wheel to the existing (or planned) rail type.

Key Features

  • High-quality construction — available in durable PVC-tyred rollers or stainless steel (grade 304) options, depending on application and environment
  • Sealed ball-bearing wheels for smooth, low-friction rolling and reduced strain on the gate motor
  • Anti-scuff steel bracket housing, protecting the wheel and simplifying fitment
  • Easy-weld or bolt-on brackets — pre-drilled holes and/or a weldable bracket design for fast, flexible installation
  • GateShoX noise-reduction system — uses an internal spring mechanism to absorb shock from corrugated or uneven tracks, dramatically cutting noise and smoothing out the ride, especially on older or worn installations
  • Supplied as a complete kit — typically includes 2 x wheels in brackets, plus matching guide rollers, bolts, nuts, and washers.

Technical Specifications (Typical 80mm Kit)

Specification Detail
Wheel radius 80mm (also available in other sizes, e.g. 68mm, 100mm)
Wheel profile V-shape or U-shape (track-dependent)
Bearing type Sealed bearing steel (e.g. 6201ZZ)
Bracket Anti-scuff steel bracket, weldable or bolt-on
Guide rollers PVC plastic, with galvanised M12 bolts, nuts and washers
Maximum load rating Varies by kit — commonly up to 800kg per kit (2 wheels); heavier stainless-steel options rated up to 125kg per wheel
Material options PVC-tyred steel roller, or stainless steel (grade 304) for corrosion resistance
Warranty Typically 12 months

Why Wheel Condition Matters

The full weight of the gate rests on its wheels at all times. Worn, seized, or poorly-matched wheels force the gate motor to work harder than it should, increasing wear on the motor's gearbox and drive components, and can cause jerky, noisy operation. Keeping wheels in good condition and rotating freely is one of the simplest ways to protect the rest of the automation system and extend its lifespan.

Ideal For

  • New sliding gate installations, matched to the chosen track profile
  • Replacing worn, corroded, or damaged wheels on an existing gate
  • Reducing noise and vibration on gates running on uneven or corrugated tracks (via GateShoX)
  • Residential, commercial, and industrial sliding gates of varying weights
