The RISCO GSM/GPRS Module is a plug-in communication card that lets a LightSYS or ProSYS alarm panel "phone home" over the mobile network — using a SIM card, just like a mobile phone — instead of (or as well as) a landline or internet connection.
When an alarm event happens (break-in, fire, panic activation, etc.), this module can send that alert out via SMS, voice call, or mobile data (GPRS) to a monitoring station, and/or directly to the property owner's phone. It can be used as the system's main way of communicating, or as a backup that kicks in automatically if the internet or phone line connection fails.
| Feature | What it does | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| SMS, voice & data reporting | Sends alerts via text message, phone call, or mobile data | Multiple ways to make sure you (or a monitoring station) get notified |
| Two-way voice communication | Lets a monitoring centre or family member talk directly to someone at the property during an alarm event | Reassuring for elderly or vulnerable residents in an emergency |
| Primary or backup communication path | Can be the main way the system communicates, or step in automatically if IP/landline fails | Keeps your alarm reporting even if an intruder cuts the phone or internet line |
| Remote control via SMS or DTMF | Arm, disarm, or check status by phone | Useful for checking on the property or letting someone in remotely |
| Real-time SMS, voice & email alerts | Notifies users the moment an event happens | Immediate awareness, wherever you are |
| Monitoring protocol support | Reports in SIA/IP, SIA, and Contact ID formats | Compatible with professional monitoring/central station requirements |
| Plug-in installation | Fits directly onto the panel's motherboard or connects via 4-wire bus (depending on model) | Straightforward for installers to add to an existing system |
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Connection type | Multi-Socket (plugs directly onto panel motherboard) or 4-Wire Bus, depending on model/enclosure |
| Max distance from panel (bus models) | Up to 300m |
| Operating voltage | 13.8V DC ±10% |
| Current consumption | Approx. 48mA typical / 52mA max (varies by exact model) |
| Reporting protocols | SIA/IP, SIA, Contact ID |
| Antenna | Included with module |
| Certification | EN 50131-1, EN 50131-3 Grade 2 Class II, EN 50131-6, EN 50136-1/2, EN 50131-10, NF&A2P (model dependent) |
This module is designed for RISCO's LightSYS, LightSYS+, LightSYS2, LightSYS Air, and ProSYS/ProSYS Plus panels. Exact compatibility depends on your panel's firmware version (e.g. LightSYS v5.20+) and enclosure type (plastic vs. polycarbonate vs. metal box), so it's important to match the correct module variant to your specific panel — your installer or supplier can confirm this.
You will also need an active SIM card (standard consumer SIM or M2M/IoT SIM) with an appropriate data/SMS/voice plan for the module to function.
