The RISCO CoMET PIR is a wired motion detector — it's the sensor that "watches" a room or hallway and triggers your alarm system if it detects movement while the system is armed. It works using Passive Infrared (PIR) technology, meaning it senses the change in heat/infrared energy given off by a moving body (like a person), rather than emitting any signal of its own.
It's a compact, wall-mounted, entry-level detector designed specifically for cost-effective residential use — a reliable, no-frills option for covering rooms, hallways, and entry points.
| Feature | What it does | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Wide-angle coverage (12m x 12m) | Detects movement across a broad area from a single mounting point | Covers most standard rooms or hallways with just one unit |
| Selectable pulse count (1, 2, or 3) | Adjusts how many motion "pulses" are needed before triggering an alarm | Lets installers balance sensitivity against false alarms for each room |
| Temperature compensation | Automatically adjusts sensitivity as ambient temperature changes | Keeps detection reliable year-round, in both hot and cold rooms |
| White light protection | Filters out interference from visible light sources | Reduces false alarms caused by torches, headlights, or sudden lighting changes |
| RF immunity (20V/m) | Resists interference from nearby radio frequency sources | Fewer false alarms from other wireless devices, appliances, or equipment nearby |
| LED indicator (walk-test) | Flashes to confirm detection during testing | Makes it easy for installers to check coverage when setting up the system |
| Pet-Immune option (CoMET PET) | Ignores small pets up to a set weight | Ideal for households with cats or small dogs |
| Compact, low-profile design | Small housing that blends into most rooms | Discreet — doesn't stand out on a wall or ceiling corner |

| Detection technology | Passive Infrared (PIR) |
| Coverage | 12m x 12m (approx. 40ft x 40ft), wide angle |
| Optimal mounting height | Approx. 2.2m – 2.4m |
| Operating voltage | 9–16V DC |
| Current consumption | Approx. 12mA at 12V |
| Alarm output | Normally Closed (N.C.) dry contact, rated 0.1A at 24V |
| Tamper output | Normally Closed (N.C.) dry contact, rated 0.1A at 24V |
| Pulse count options | 1, 2, or 3 (selectable) |
| RF immunity | 20V/m |
| Operating temperature | -5°C to +50°C |
| Connection | Wired — screw terminal connections to your alarm panel or zone expander |
The CoMET PIR connects via wired zone inputs to any standard alarm control panel, including RISCO's LightSYS and ProSYS ranges (directly or via an 8-Zone Expander), as well as most other panels that accept a standard N.C. wired zone input. It's a passive detector — it doesn't need to be "paired" or programmed like a wireless device, just wired in and configured as a zone on your panel.
