Sliding Gate Contacts

Product Description

A sliding gate contact is a specialised connector that lets an electrified security fence's live wires continue across a sliding gate. Without one, the fence circuit would be broken every time the gate is open — making the fence system inoperable at that point. The contact carries the live wire over from the fixed fence line and energises a matching wire run along the top of the gate itself, effectively making the moving gate part of the electrified perimeter whenever it's closed.

How it works

• Gate closed — the gate-mounted wire circuit forms part of the full fence series circuit, so it's live and monitored; cutting the wires on a closed gate will trigger an alarm.
• Gate open — the gate section is automatically bypassed, so the gate wires are no longer live or monitored — this keeps the rest of the fence line energised and functioning normally while the gate is in use.
• Some models can optionally be wired to short to earth when the gate opens, deliberately triggering an alarm condition when the gate isn't meant to be open.
